Many pets are understandably anxious in the clinical setting of a veterinary surgery.
By contrast, home is a safe familiar space where pets can feel most at ease.
Pets can be put to sleep in their favourite resting place within their home.
Other pets can have an opportunity to understand what has happened by being allowed to see and sniff their peaceful companion after the euthanasia.

Home is private and peaceful

You don't have to worry about awkward interactions with the general public or feel embarrassed and try to hide your emotions in the privacy of your own home.
Veterinary surgeries can sometimes be quite noisy and distracting, especially in waiting areas.

For some pets it might be painful or difficult to be moved and transported to a veterinary surgery.
Having your pet put to sleep at home is convenient if you want to bury them afterwards.
